Some folding chair covers need to fit the decor of special events such as weddings and retirement parties. You can buy or rent covers for the chairs, but making your own is the cheapest option. If you choose a design or pattern that can be adapted to craft techniques in fabrics, you do not need to sew the covers to the foldable chairs. Here is a seamless solution using the one-piece curtain design, which is the simplest and most versatile style to make.
Preparation
Choose a fabric that fits the purpose of the folding chair covers. Buy 1.2m or more of material sold per meter for folding metal chairs. Good quality muslin works well, but for elegance, try organza or tulle. You can replace rectangular tablecloths or sheets with decorator fabrics.
Measure the height, width, legs, and seat of the chair. Add measures to have an estimate of the footage of each folding chair covers. Leave a few extra inches to get the best fit in pleated designs. Cut the fabric to the correct length. If you are going to use a tablecloth or sheet, skip this step. Use adhesive tape for fabric and an iron (or fabric glue) to make the hem from all edges of the fabric.
